Diary of a Nurse’s slightly slanted Perspective
Recommended Playlist, Relevant Quotes and Recipes Included
Originally this diary was supposed to focus solely on the food and cultures in the places I travel. However, the Coronavirus and the worldwide Pandemic that followed has changed the blog’s content and our lives…Some of them forever.
The emergence of the Pandemic has altered the content of this diary to reflect my experience in caring for Coronavirus patients.
If you came here to learn about travel nursing or look for insider tips you came to the wrong place. However, here are some excellent sites for you if you want travel nurse info.
Eventually, I will get back to my “normal” travel nursing adventures but, for now the diary is going to focus on my nursing experience with Coronavirus.
What To Expect
Diary of a Travel Nurse
With each post I will link a song for you to listen to while reading. The chosen song is always related, in some way, to the post. My taste in music is diverse so, be prepared for that.
You will also get a, ‘Quote of the Day’ which is relevant to the content of the post.
Each post will also include a recipe or a food related link under the heading, ‘What’s for Dinner?’. Sometimes the food is what I’ve made for dinner that day or, it will be from a restaurant I have visited.
Finally, at the end of most of the posts I will give information about Coronavirus and links for you to follow regarding the timeline of the Pandemic.
Beware!
Diary of a Travel Nurse is not for children or the easily offended. If you are not familiar with the nursing profession and all of it’s gory details, the crassness of nursing humor, -OR- you are easily offended… this may not be the blog for you. I promise there will be cursing and curtness.
I write without inhibition. In other words, I DO NOT sugar coat anything. BUT, If you came here for real, raw information- you have found it my friend.
Some of the posts are difficult to read -as it was very difficult for me to write them, knowing two things:
- That my career could be jeopardized by the words I write because it is the truth about what is happening.
- That I have done these things and have emotionally felt them. I have cried and I have questioned my integrity in others.
Happy reading…
The “New Normal”

Diary of a Travel Nurse is real and accurate information from my perspective as a nurse during the Pandemic. It will now reflect my real-time experience in nursing this population of Coronavirus patients and my opinions regarding the Coronavirus Pandemic.
These are unprecedented times for nursing. We are fighting a battle that has never been fought. Nursing in the time of a Pandemic is NOTHING like nursing in the ‘normal’ world. The patients aren’t even the same. This is an experience I will never forget and I am sure you won’t forget it either.
What we document now regarding this Pandemic will be historic and it needs to be written from the perspective of a nurse. Written from a perspective that is not biased by the corporations that pay to spin the wheel of news for their benefit.
This diary is real. It is what has actually happened and is still occurring.
The year 2020 is, ironically, The Year of the Nurse. It was deemed The Year of the Nurse (before this whole Pandemic started) in honor of Florence Nightingale’s birthday.
How is that for some fucked up shit? It’s like the all the stars aligned and they were like, ‘Hey nurses, it’s your year! We celebrate you. Yay, Happy 2020! Oh yeah, just kidding. Here’s a Pandemic for you to shoulder instead.’
yeah, thanks.
Let’s GO Travel!
I travel the country with my partner, and fellow nurse, Michael. We are big time foodies and we love to travel in our RV with our cat, Domino, a.k.a. Princess Kitty Bitch.
We have been Travel Nurses for a little over 3 years and so far we have taken Travel Nurse assignments in Albany Georgia, Lake Charles Louisiana, New Orleans Louisiana, Salisbury Maryland, and Memphis Tennessee.
Home base is Pensacola Florida where we were staff nurses for a few years before we decided to take the leap into travel nursing. When we made the decision to travel we bought an RV and hit the road. We haven’t looked back since.
We would love for you to join our adventure.

Here we go…
